   WiseTech Global, the Australian freight and logistics software maker (about 7,000 staff), said on February 24 it would cut roughly 2,000 roles over a two-year 'deep AI transformation', starting with customer-service and product/development teams, where it projected reductions of up to about 50%. CEO Zubin Appoo said 'the era of manually writing code as a core act of engineering is over.' The scale drew controversy in Australia. One of the clearest company-stated AI-for-headcount announcements of the year.
