Sunrise, Switzerland's second-largest mobile operator (~2,850 staff), said in late September it plans to cut up to 450 roles (~16%) in an operating-model overhaul. The company justified the move with the realignment plus a greater use of AI and data-driven automation — its budget brand Yallo recently ran a fully AI-made marketing campaign — while also stressing cost savings and market trends, and noting not all the roles go because of AI. It is a proposal subject to employee/union consultation starting in Q4, and follows 147 cuts earlier in 2026; the Opfikon HQ bears much of the impact.
Sunrise justified the cuts with an operating-model realignment and the increased use of AI and data-driven automation, while saying not all roles would be cut because of AI.
